DESCRIPTION: Wing length 7 to 9mm. A common Caddis-Fly best recognised by the dark chocolate wings that sport four white lines. The top of the head bears a white tuft of hair (hence albifrons). Note must be made that a dark form occurs (form interjectus) with entirely black wings. BEHAVIOUR: Larvae can be found within the usual habitat and on the shores of large lakes. This species lives for approximately one year. DISTRIBUTION: A widely distributed species throughout the British Isles. HABITAT: Found primarily in and around rivers and streams but can stray and be attracted to light. PERIOD: May to September.
